War wounds and Inheritance tax

What has a Sodiers injury's got to with Inheritance tax?

 

 

Surprisingly there is a connection. Excellent and interesting article in the Telegraph regarding the fact that the government is appealing against 2awards to soldiers. The Telegraph taking great delight in pointing out that one of whom who could not appear because he is currently serving in Afghanistan.

The connection between these two Issues is apparently that "Section 154 of the Inheritance Tax Act 1984 specifically exempts anyone from any IHT liability if injuries suffered while serving in the Armed Forces contributed to their death – however long ago the injuries occurred."
